Most classic sports nutrition research on carb timing and concentration is for long duration exercise. Scientists always said short duration exercises didn’t benefit from strategic pre-exercise carbs because they weren’t long enough to deplete muscle glycogen, but how do we know for sure? The study reviewed today helps answer some of these questions. The applications half of the episode discusses a few topics that came to mind – last minute fueling tactics for workouts/games with a delayed start and not letting building muscle make you an immobile non-functional athlete. John always reviews the full text of every article, but to see the abstract of the study discussed, click here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24281911
